Al-Khanbashi received a comprehensive briefing from the Deputy Head of the Commission, Judge Hussein Al-Mashdali, on the nature of the Commission’s work and its field activities in the governorate. This included its follow-up on the conditions of detention facilities, monitoring of illegal prisons, and the examination of reports and complaints related to detention outside the framework of the law.

The meeting also addressed recent human rights developments linked to the security and military aspects witnessed by the governorate during the past period, as well as the Commission’s efforts to verify incidents, uncover the truth, and ensure redress for victims who have been subjected to violations of human rights and public freedoms, in accordance with international conventions and applicable national laws.

The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council affirmed his full support for the work of the Commission and expressed his readiness to facilitate its field missions and enhance cooperation with relevant authorities. This, he noted, would contribute to strengthening the rule of law, protecting rights and freedoms, achieving justice, and holding accountable anyone proven to be involved in committing human rights violations.
