NCIAVHR Meets the IDPs Executive Unit Director and Visits Camps in Aden

The National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) today met with the Director of the Executive Unit for the Internal Displaced Peoples (IDPs) camps in the republic at the Unit’s headquarters in the interim capital, Aden.

In the meeting, Commission member Dr. Dhiaa Muhairez explained that the Commission’s field teams continue to monitor, document, and investigate human rights violations, and also pay attention to the category of displaced people who have been subjected to various violations that forced them to flee.

For his part, the Director of the Executive Unit, Najeeb Al-Saadi, spoke about the conditions of the displaced people in the camps and the violations they were subjected to, and the role played by the Unit to provide basic services to the displaced in the camps.

Mr. Al-Saadi appreciated the role of the Commission and its efforts in monitoring, documenting, and investigating violations, pointing to the importance of coordination with the Unit to refer the incidents of violations to which the displaced were subjected before fleeing from their areas of residence to Aden and the rest of the governorates of the Republic.

In addition, the Commission member and the Director of the Executive Unit in Aden governorate visited the campsite and listened to an explanation from the officer in charge of the displaced camp in Dar Saad district, who listed the difficulties and challenges that the administration and the displaced alike suffer from, the lack of support, and the scarcity of capabilities.

During that, Ms. Dhiaa Muhairez listened to a number of cases that were subjected to various violations of their personal safety and private property and demanded redress for their harm. Ms. Muhairez also discussed the concerned the means to coordinate and refer victims of human rights violations who recently came to the camps to the Commission to hear from them and complete monitoring and documentation of the violations that affected them.
