As Part of Its Field Investigations into Recent Human Rights Developments, NCIAVHR Meets with the Director of Hadramout Coast Security

The National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) met with the Director of Hadramout Coast Security, Brigadier General Abdulaziz Awadh Al-Jabri, on Sunday in the city of Mukalla as part of its field investigations into recent human rights developments in the governorate.

During the meeting, Brigadier General Al-Jabri expressed the readiness of the Hadramout Coast Security leadership to cooperate with the Commission in all matters that contribute to the protection and promotion of human rights, considering this a fundamental pillar for achieving security and stability and for meeting the aspirations of the people of Hadramout in consolidating the rule of law.

For his part, Judge Hussein Al-Mashdali, Deputy Head of the Commission, outlined the objectives of the visit, which comes as a continuation of previous visits to the governorate. The visit is part of the Commission’s efforts to keep pace with developments in the human rights situation related to the security and military aspects witnessed in Hadramout during the past period, in a manner that ensures the uncovering of the truth and redress for victims who have been subjected to any form of human rights violations and infringements on freedoms guaranteed under international conventions and national laws.

The meeting, held at the Hadramout Coast Police Headquarters and attended by Commission members Judge Nasser Al-Awadhli, Judge Ishraq Al-Maqtari, and Judge Mohammed Tulyan, discussed the measures taken by security agencies to protect individuals’ rights and freedoms, secure public and private property, and ensure the safety of civilians during the incidents of violence that the governorate witnessed in recent weeks.

This meeting comes within the framework of the field visit program being implemented by the Commission to complete its investigations into a number of incidents involving violations of the rights to liberty, freedom of movement, dignity, and physical and psychological integrity, based on reports, complaints, and testimonies received by the Commission.
