Aden: NCIAVHR Meets with Netherlands Ambassador to Yemen

The Chairperson and members of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) today, met with the Netherlands Ambassador to Yemen, Ms. Janet Seppen, and the Political Attaché at the embassy, Tessa Scholma, at the Commission’s office in the interim capital, Aden.

The meeting discussed several issues related to violations in the Yemeni arena, the main challenges, and opportunities to achieve a just peace that guarantees respect for the rights of victims and accountability for violators.

The Netherlands ambassador affirmed her country’s continuous support for the Commission and praised the content of the eleventh report of the Commission for its objectivity and neutrality in monitoring documenting and investigating human rights violations in Yemen.

Ms. Seppen also congratulated the Commission on the adoption by consensus at its 54th session of a draft resolution to continue supporting the Commission by the Human Rights Council.

For his part, the Commission Chairman, Judge Ahmed Al-Maflehi, expressed his hope that the Human Rights Council’s resolution of providing the necessary technical support to the Commission would be implemented as provided to any similar international investigation committees to continue investigating violations and carrying out its tasks.
