The National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) conducted a field visit to the detention center operated by the Military Intelligence Division in Taiz Governorate. The visit came as part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to monitor the legal and humanitarian conditions of detainees held in connection with the armed conflict and to ensure compliance with relevant national and international standards.

During the visit, Commission member Judge Eshraq Al-Maqtari met with several detainees to hear their accounts regarding the circumstances of their detention and the legal status of their cases. The Commission recorded their main concerns and requests, particularly the desire to regain their freedom and return to their areas of origin as part of anticipated detainee exchange efforts between the parties to the conflict.

The Commission also held discussions with Brigadier General Abdu Al-Bahiri, Director of the Military Intelligence Division in Taiz, in the presence of Major General Abdulaziz Al-Majidi, Chief of Staff of the Taiz Military Axis. The discussions focused on the reports and complaints received by the Commission concerning detainee conditions and the actions taken in response. The Commission underscored the importance of continued cooperation to ensure proper healthcare, adequate nutrition, and full respect for the human dignity of all detainees.
