The National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) with the Dutch Ambassador to Yemen, Peter Dirk Hoff, discussed the human rights situation in the country and mechanisms for documentation and accountability for human rights violations.

In the meeting, attended by the member of the Commission, Judge Ishraq Al-Maqtari, and the Secretary-General in the Jordanian capital, Amman, the human rights situation during the past truce period and the nature of the violations committed during that period were discussed as well.

Ambassador Peter Dirk Hoff affirmed his country’s interest in strengthening documentation and accountability mechanisms, and at the same time believes that the Commission has made great strides in this field, and its work in documentation and investigation must continue, noting that the Netherlands will continue to provide the necessary support to the Commission.

The meeting also examined the current role between the Commission and the judiciary and the extent to which the challenges and difficulties of the previous stage were overcome.
For its part, the Commission presented its vision for the current year 2023 related to activating accountability, expanding its documentation work in new remote districts, and increasing its field monitors team.
