NCIAVHR Chairman Discusses Violations against Sports in Yemen with the Minister of Youth and Sports

The Chairman of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR), Judge Ahmed Al-Maflahi, today, met with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Naif Al-Bakri, at the Commission’s headquarters in the Intriem capital Aden.

The meeting highlighted several issues and facts related to the violations that targeted sports facilities during the period of war in various governorates of Yemen which witnessed clashes, armed operations, and shelling that affected many public and private sites and facilities.

The meeting also addressed ways of cooperation between the Commission and the Ministry of Youth and Sports in reducing violations against children and youth intellectually through mobilization centers by enrolling them in youth and sports rehabilitation centers to prevent them from being recruited into fighting camps.

Minister Naif Al-Bakri also examined some of the violations that targeted these facilities due to armed operations in different governorates, and violations against youth and workers in the sports field, while also praising the role played by the Commission in documenting such violations, as reflected in its periodic reports.

Judge Ahmed Al-Maflahi emphasized the Commission’s interest in athletes and their facilities, confirming that the Commission’s field teams documented a number of these violations targeting youth and athletes.

The meeting was attended by the Assistant Undersecretary for Financial and Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ayman Al-Makhlafi, and the Director General of Dar Saad district in Aden governorate, Mr. Aboud Naji.
