Aden, 10 March 2020
A workshop on arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance under international standards in monitoring and documenting human rights violations concluded in the interim capital, Aden, on Tuesday.
The workshop held by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Yemen, in cooperation with the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations to Human Rights, targeted nine assistant investigators during the period from 7 to 10 March of this year 2020.
The workshop included various training programs and sessions on international mechanisms for protection from enforced disappearance (contractual and non-contractual), arrest and detention during armed conflict, monitoring and documenting human rights violations in detention facilities, and writing reports.
This workshop comes within the multiple partnership programs set up by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to strengthen the capacities of the National Commission in the areas of monitoring and investigate allegations of human rights violations in Yemen.
