Members of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) listened to the testimonies of recently released journalists in the recent exchange deal last April, as part of the investigation mechanisms that the Commission has followed since its inception.

The meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Commission in the interim capital, Aden, was attended by journalists Abdul Khaliq Omran, Tawfiq Al-Mansouri, Harith Hamid, Akram Al-Walidi, Hisham Tarmoum, and Hassan Annab.

The journalists exposed the patterns of violations they were subjected to, including arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, and physical and psychological torture, and revealed the parties and people involved.

They also provided detailed explanations and various testimonies of the violations they were subjected to during eight years, in violation of national laws and international human rights law.

During the previous years, the Commission had documented several violations against Yemeni journalists in different governorates of the Republic.

In this regard, the Commission calls on all parties to stop their violations and abuses against journalists, release them without conditions, and respect national laws and international covenants that guarantee the rights of journalists.
