NCIAVHR Meets Taiz Governor and Reviews Detention Conditions of “833” Prisoners

On Wednesday, members of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) discussed with Taiz Governor Mr. Nabil Shamsan the human rights situation in the governorate and the case files under review by the Commission.

In the meeting, the Commission Vice-Chairman, Judge Hussein Al-Mashdali, delivered the program of the Commission visit to Taiz governorate and explained that this visit was part of a field visit program that the Commission implements in all governorates to complete the investigation tasks on a number of incidents being considered by the Commission and to learn about recent human rights developments, including the situation of detainees in all detention centers.

Governor Shamsan welcomed the Commission’s team members stressing the local authority’s interest in cooperating with the Commission in resolving all problems that hinder the application of the law.

After the meeting, the Commission’s team carried out a field visit to the Central Prison Facility in Taiz governorate and was briefed on its departments and the legal conditions of “833” detainees and prisoners and the challenges of accessing a number of them to the right to litigation.
