On Monday, the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations to Human Rights (NCIAVHR) held an extensive meeting with ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in Yemen within the framework of cooperation and communication with the international community concerned with human rights in Yemen.
The meeting, which was held in the Yemeni embassy building in Riyadh and attended by 20 ambassadors and diplomatic representatives, focused on the current context of human rights violations in Yemen, the impact of continuing violence and conflict on economic and social rights, and the mission of the Commission in documenting violations and enhancing accountability through the national judiciary.
During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Commission, Judge Ahmed Al-Muflahi, acknowledged the Commission’s interest to continue communication and cooperation with all local, international and regional bodies interested in the human rights file in Yemen, in a way that helps reveal the truth, limit violations, and provide justice to the victims.
Moreover, members of the Commission in the meeting reviewed the most important recent field investigation carried out by the Commission in all governorates of Yemen, and the total number of cases documented and investigated during the previous period.
For their part, the ambassadors and diplomatic representatives appreciated the Commission’s efforts achieved during its work period and its importance in supporting humanitarian work, and the necessity of continuing such meetings that remove much ambiguity about the human rights situation in Yemen, and persisting the Commission’s tasks in the fields of documentation, investigation and accountability.
