NCIAVHR Discusses with the Dutch Mission the Repercussions of Human Rights Situation on Transitional Justice in Yemen

On Friday, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Dutch Embassy in the Jordanian capital, Amman, between the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) and the Deputy Dutch Ambassador to Yemen, the political attaché, and the transitional justice specialist at the embassy.

The meeting, which included the Vice-Chairman of the Commission, Judge Hussein Al-Mashdali, and the member of the Commission, Judge Ishraq Al-Maqtari, reviewed human rights developments in Yemen, the recent work of the Commission in the field of investigation and preparation for transitional justice, the achievement of justice for the victims, and the opportunities to support the capabilities of the Commission to contribute to its success and complete its mission effectively.

In the meeting, which was attended by the political attaché and transitional justice specialist at the embassy, Ms. Tessa Schulma, the Dutch Deputy Ambassador, Ms. Marika Werda, confirmed the Netherlands’ follow-up to the Commission’s recent steps and field visits to prisons and detention centers, and the investigation progress on all violations, given that the human rights file in Yemen has been a priority for the Netherlands for years and not only today.
