{"id":1839,"date":"2024-06-04T20:49:14","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T20:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nciye.org\/en\/?p=1839"},"modified":"2024-06-04T20:54:48","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T20:54:48","slug":"nciavhr-visits-central-prison-womens-prison-and-criminal-investigation-in-marib","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nciye.org\/en\/?p=1839","title":{"rendered":"NCIAVHR Visits Central Prison, Women\u2019s Prison, and Criminal Investigation in Ma\u2019rib"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marib | June 4, 2024 <\/p>\n<p>Today, a team from the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) visited the Central Prison building, the Women\u2019s prison, and the Criminal Investigation Department in Marib Governorate, as part of the field trip program implemented by the Commission to the governorate. <\/p>\n<p>During the visits, the members of the Commission were briefed on the legal conditions of the (542) prisoners and detainees, including (15) women, pending cases being considered by the governorate\u2019s prosecutors and courts. They also discussed several cases that the Commission is following up on and ascertained the extent to which the guarantees enjoyed by the prisoners were sustained by the Constitution, national laws, and human rights conventions. <\/p>\n<p>The Commission team listened to the legal and service demands of several prisoners related to the quick ruling on their cases being reviewed by the courts, improving and expanding prison services in a manner commensurate with their current numbers and in a way that preserves their dignity and humanity.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission also heard from the governorate\u2019s police director, the director of Criminal Investigation, the Director of the Women\u2019s Prison, and the Acting Director of the Central Prison. They provided a detailed explanation of the number of prisoners, litigation procedures, and services provided to inmates in prisons and detention centers. <\/p>\n<p>Marib Governorate Police Director, Brigadier General Yahya Hamid, indicated that the local authorities in the governorate are in the process of completing the work of preparing the buildings and facilities of the new central prison to accommodate the large numbers of prisoners and detainees, who are overcrowded in the current facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the Commission, including Dr. Diaa Mahirz, Judge Hazam Al-Marisi, Judge Jihad Abdul Rasoul, and Dr. Mohammed Talyan, participated in the visits.
