NCIAVHR Discusses Human Rights with Taiz Axis Military Leaders

On Wednesday, the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) discussed several cases being investigated by the Commission in various districts in the Taiz governorate with the military leaders of the Taiz axis, led by Brigadier General Abdulaziz Al-Majidi.

The meeting reviewed human rights issues in Taiz governorate and the role of the military leadership in reducing the impact of the war on civilians in conflict zones, including facilitating access to humanitarian aid, and safe passage for civilians, especially to schools, hospitals, and various resources.

The meeting also discussed the allegations of human rights violations being investigated by the Commission, which are attributed to several military units, including the detention of several individuals from the Al-Maqatirah district, and complaints filed by citizens who have been harassed. The Commission also reviewed inquiries regarding other incidents.

Brigadier General Abdulaziz Al-Majidi reiterated the military leadership’s commitment to responding to the Commission’s inquiries and clarifying their position on each case brought to their attention by the Commission, to protect rights and freedoms while maintaining security and stability.

The Commission also conducted field visits to Al-Maqatirah district, interviewing families of detainees, and witnesses, and documenting their demands as part of its investigation.
