NCIAVHR Discussed with the Dutch Mission in Geneva Efforts Made to Document Violations

The Chairman and members of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) held a meeting today with the Dutch Ambassador to the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Paul Bekkers.

The Chairman of the Commission, Judge Ahmed Al-Muflehi, and the Commission members discussed with the Dutch Ambassador and the human rights expert in the mission their important work in documenting and investigating serious human rights violations, the challenges of accessing all victims, and the significant parts of the Commission’s eleventh periodic report.

Ambassador Bekkers expressed his appreciation for the important progress made by the Commission into the violations committed in Yemen and the challenges it faces in light of the ongoing armed conflict. Mr. Bekkers also praised its essential role in preserving the data of victims and evidence, which will contribute to achieving justice and fairness later on.

At the same time, Mr. Bekkers emphasized his country’s great interest in promoting human rights in Yemen and supporting the efforts of the Commission in investigating violations as a national mechanism in to increase its independence and access to all Yemeni regions.
