The National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations to Human Rights (“NCIAVHR”) in Yemen has appreciated the resolution of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva to confirm the support and mandate of the Commission to investigate all parties, and urged everyone to cooperate with Commission for the success of its work.

The resolution also commended the significant progress made by the Commission, which was clearly reflected in its tenth periodic report, and stipulated that the Commission would provide full support to the National Commission, similar to the peer international commissions of inquiry, given that the National Commission is the only investigative mechanism on the ground.

In another context, the Chairperson and members of the Commission, Wednesday, met with the international law official of the sanctions committee team of the UN Security Council.

In the meeting held at the headquarters of the Commission in the interim capital, Aden, potential areas of cooperation between the two sides with regard to violations committed against civilians in the governorates of the Republic of Yemen were discussed.

The member of the international team, Mr. Cornelius, praised the work of the Commission in the field of monitoring and investigation of violations, especially what was included in the tenth report recently issued by the Commission.

The expert considered that the Commission represents to the sanctions team a key source of information related to human rights violations by virtue of its presence in the field and its extensive and professional monitoring and investigation under the international standards.
