Yemen Vice-President Affirms Commitment to Human Rights Principles

Yemen Vice President, Lieutenant-General Ali Mohsen Saleh, affirmed the commitment of legitimate government to the laws and principles of human rights, and its attention to protect civilians, spare them the risks and alleviate their current suffering.
This was during his meeting today with the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations to Human Rights to discuss the role of government agencies that can play in facilitating the Commission’s functions as a commitment and principle by the political leadership towards human rights.
The Vice-President of the Republic of Yemen appreciated the legal and rightful role played by the Commission in monitoring and documenting violations against Yemenis from various parties. He pointed out that the Commission is considered the true and national eye that views the various issues from a purely humanitarian perspective, with impartiality and honesty.
Members of the Commission expressed their appreciation for the attention of the Vice-President of the Republic, referring to the comprehensive and independent role of the Commission, which is based on the national and international investigation procedures and standards under the national legislation, international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
